# Battle of the Tollense Valley (-1250)

Around 1250 BCE thousands of warriors fought at a river crossing in the Tollense valley in northern Germany. Archaeologists have recovered the remains of well over a hundred people along with bronze weapons, arrowheads and horse bones. The site overturned the belief that Bronze Age conflicts in northern Europe were small-scale raids.

## Why it matters
It is the oldest battlefield of such scale yet found in Europe.
