# Saxon Revolt (1073)

In 1073 Saxon nobles and peasants rebelled against Henry IV, angered by his castle-building in the Harz. Henry defeated them at Langensalza in 1075. The conflict weakened him just as his struggle with the pope began.

## Why it matters
It revealed deep tensions between the Salian crown and the princes.
