# Concordat of Worms (1122)

In September 1122 Henry V and Pope Callixtus II agreed a compromise on the appointment of bishops. The emperor gave up investiture with ring and staff but kept influence over elections in Germany. It ended half a century of conflict.

It weakened imperial control of the Church and strengthened the princes.
