# Golden Bull of Rimini (1226)

In 1226 Frederick II granted the Teutonic Order sovereign rights over lands it would conquer in Prussia. Polish duke Konrad of Masovia had invited the knights to fight the pagan Prussians. The decree laid the legal basis of the Teutonic state.

## Why it matters
It led to the Teutonic Order's state on the Baltic.
