# Battle of Legnica (1241)

On 9 April 1241 a Mongol army defeated Duke Henry II of Silesia and his allies, including Teutonic and Templar knights. Henry was killed. The Mongols withdrew soon after, sparing Germany.

## Why it matters
It marked the westernmost point of the Mongol invasion of Central Europe.
