# German Peasants' War (1524)

In 1524-1525 peasants across southern and central Germany rose against their lords, citing the Twelve Articles. Thomas Müntzer led rebels in Thuringia. The princes crushed the revolt; around 100,000 peasants were killed, many at Frankenhausen in May 1525.
