# Campaigns of Germanicus (16)

Between 14 and 16 CE Germanicus led punitive campaigns into Germania, recovering two of Varus' lost eagles. In 16 CE he defeated Arminius at Idistaviso on the Weser and again at the Angrivarian Wall. Emperor Tiberius then recalled him, and Rome abandoned plans to conquer Germania.

## Why it matters
Rome accepted the Rhine and Danube as its lasting frontier.
