# Defenestration of Prague (1618)

On 23 May 1618 Protestant nobles threw two Catholic imperial governors out of a window of Prague Castle. They survived the fall. The Bohemian Revolt that followed escalated into the Thirty Years' War.

## Why it matters
It triggered the most destructive war in German history before the 20th century.
