# Kant's Critique of Pure Reason (1781)

In 1781 Immanuel Kant of Königsberg published the Critique of Pure Reason. It transformed Western philosophy. In 1784 he defined Enlightenment as 'man's emergence from his self-incurred immaturity'.

## Why it matters
