# Reichsdeputationshauptschluss (1803)

On 25 February 1803 an imperial deputation dissolved almost all ecclesiastical states and most free imperial cities. Their territories went to larger states such as Bavaria, Württemberg and Baden. The number of German states fell dramatically.
