# Frankfurt Parliament (1848)

On 18 May 1848 the first freely elected all-German National Assembly met in St Paul's Church in Frankfurt. It drafted a constitution with basic rights. In March 1849 it offered the imperial crown to Frederick William IV of Prussia.
