# Munich Agreement (1938)

On 30 September 1938 Britain, France and Italy allowed Germany to annex the Sudetenland. Chamberlain proclaimed 'peace for our time'. In March 1939 Germany occupied the rest of Czechoslovakia.

## Why it matters
It became a symbol of failed appeasement.
