# Warsaw Genuflection (1970)

On 7 December 1970 Chancellor Willy Brandt knelt at the Warsaw Ghetto memorial. His Ostpolitik normalised relations with Eastern Europe. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1971.

It became an iconic gesture of reconciliation.
