# Battle at the Harzhorn (235)

Discovered in 2008, the Harzhorn battlefield in Lower Saxony revealed that a Roman army fought Germanic warriors far north of the frontier around 235 CE. Hundreds of artefacts, including catapult bolts and weapons, survive. The find showed that Rome still campaigned deep in Germania long after Varus.

## Why it matters
It rewrote the history of Roman-Germanic relations in the third century.
